Sometimes when we have baby animals on our farm, we have to hand-raise them. A few days ago one of our ewes gave birth to a gorgeous lamb but since she is a new mom and quite young her udder was much too small to support her baby. We had to bring the lamb inside and bottle-feed it. Watch this video and see how "Heidi the Lamb" runs and gallops even though she's just a few hours old:
Since we've added sheep to our farm we've found they are a complement to our grass-fed beef operations. Sheep are ruminants, like cattle, and are designed to eat grass. They produce red meat, as do beef, but the nutritional profile of grass-fed lamb will vary somewhat from beef because of the unique eating characteristics of sheep. Both grass-fed beef and grass-fed lamb have outstanding fatty-acid ratios, and the two types of meat complement each other. We look forward to offering you, our friends, grass-fed lamb as a delicious and healthy addition to your diet.
Heidi the Lamb is one of the newest animals on our farm.
